PEO vs. ASO: What’s in an acronym?

PEO services are provided under the terms of a co-employment agreement. As part of the co-employment arrangement, a client company transfers administrative employer-of-record status to a PEO, enabling the client to benefit from the PEO’s state unemployment and workers compensation insurance, if needed. 

The ASO model largely mirrors PEO service, except it is delivered absent a co-employment relationship and on the client’s Tax ID. ASO clients retain their unique employer identity. Clients maintain their own workers compensation policy and state unemployment insurance, with Adams Keegan handling the administration and payments.  

The PEO relationship gives you the best of both worlds. You remain in control – receiving and providing to your workers the packages of support that you want – while we help you with payroll, state unemployment, risk management, and benefits.

Both relationships include scalable and customized levels of service, which can be changed to suit your needs.  We are very agnostic on the solution whether PEO or ASO and we will work with you to determine what is most ideal for your business model – regardless of the model you get the same high level comprehensive support tailored to your needs.
